RE: Dublin City Council Parking Control for Major Events (Croke Park) Bye-Laws 2009
Dublin City Council met last night and rejected the proposal to introduce 'Residents Only Parking' 30 votes to 17.
The reasons given range from:
Concerns with respect to pushing out the problem to other areas
It’s a "bad" use of tax payers money
Call for people to address instead the "real" issues of the day
It would be unenforceable
Cost - estimated at 240k to initially set up, and 84k per annum to run
It’s a deeply disappointing result
Each of the above are excuses rather than reasons not to go forward with this proposal
