He is a sad loss. The media, as usual, are to be condemned for their ill informed headlining, particularly that English Daily Mail woman who deserves the sack. Stephen appears to have been an extremely nice, friendly and modest chap, rare in this pop arena, who was a good friend to everyone and who never forgot his humble roots. I am, personally, not a follower of this type of music, preferring the classical variety, but you can acknowledge a nice artist in any field and Stephen was that. He should certainly be remembered, particularly for his honesty in his relationship with his partner, but I do not agree with this lavish €50,000 "bash" in his memory.. it is quite tacky. Most of the people of Sherrif Street, the lads from FAS who painted the place up for his return, are going to be very badly hit in their Social Welfare this Christmas by this monstrous Government . That money would go a long way ,to quote the song, "raising them up" at this time. I'm sure Stephen would like it this way. However.
