It's time for him to go.

The lack of leadership in this country is staggering. Bertie sleep-walked us into the mess. Brian Cowen is continuing to sleep walk through the mess.

He should be on TV making state broadcasts like Charlie did, to bring the morale of the country up. Brian Lenihan looks like a taoiseach in waiting, but he obviously doesn't have the guts to stage a mutiny.

Anyone else agree?

Agreed. Why doesn't Brian Lenihan mount a putsch?

‘If you pay peanuts you get monkeys’ or so they say; in view of recent revelations of gross mismanagement of almost all sectors of government, cronyism, super salaries, golden handshakes, abuses of expenses, we would have been better off with the monkeys. Not only do we need to be rid of Cowen but we need a complete shake-up of the system to ensure that the sleazy days are over and that we and our money will no longer be the prey of bureaucratic predators. To achieve this we need to:

Reduce the numbers of TDs Reduce their salaries. Reduce numbers and salaries of State body administrators. Abolish the present pension scheme for civil servants. Publish expenses of all public servants, including members of parliament as they occur.

A codicil to the ‘pay peanuts’ saying, ‘if you pay good money you get opportunists, sharks and shysters‘.

Re Lenihan & putsch....    He never will just look at the history of the family...  while he & his family may be (reasonably?) honest they've always propped up corrupt leaders & governments....   I'm afraid the boat has been missed re Dail changes (unless Doug & the Brit's can help us out by rejecting Lisbon Treaty) & it will matter little in the coming years who leads us....   Ok  Eamon Gilmore has to be praised for finally pushing O'Donoghue out (though with handshakes & pensions) but Fine Gael have been appeasing him & afraid to rock the boat.....     I have little faith in future governments here!...

I think that the Irish Government are struggling with the enormous tsunami that has hit. The system is not geared up  either for fast decision making but I think that there is a big lack of leadership.
I would like to march peacefully on Leinster house no disruption to the city but with placards and the Press in tow.
Placards could say:- Nero fiddling while Rome burning. We want leadership not petty bickering over the past
Everyone should take a pay cut . Ireland has become too expensive. If wages go down so will prices
Put more effort into renewable energy sources. We could save €4billion in imports of gas and oil and give
employment building wave and tide energy generators.
We should stop spending on things that do nothing for the balance of payments.
I could go on but I repeat we want leadership not arguments between the policitians.
I could get at least 100 people to march with.
Anyone interested?

I think you'd find more than 100 marching. I'm in

I’m with you in spirit, Camillus, but unfortunately I don’t have a leg to stand on. If someone is willing to give me a drag or better still, push me along then I’ll be there. The question is what are we going to replace him with? A cardboard cut-out of Enda Kenny or is that the real Enda Kenny, I can’t tell the difference; no, not really thank you. Our system seems to throw up nothing but money grubbing, self gratifying shysters without a good honest leader in sight so we have to amend the system.

On renewable energy, we’ve been shouting that for the last twenty years but vested interests and cronyism in government prefer incineration and fossil carbon abuse over bio-degrading, wind or wave.
